WHAT INSPIRED THESE SONGS?

1. Richest Man in the Graveyard.  I wrote this one in Aug 2006 about the fact that you've just got to slow down and smell the roses.  All work and no play makes for an early grave.  It's no use looking back and having the claim to fame that you worked hard.  It's better to claim you lived hard and enjoyed every day because you only live one day at a time.  Don't let it pass you by too quickly.

2. Hard Workin Country Boys.  I wrote this one back around 98-99 when I was going from Rockabilly to Country Rock.  I lost the words but remembered the music and chorus and bits of the verses so it was slightly different from the original when recorded in 2006.  This is just a fun dance song with nothing special in mind except a whole lot of cheeky lyrics.

3. Tombstone Junction was inspired by Kieran, a member of the old cowboys on a phone conversation while looking for ideas for new songs back in August 2006.  The title sounded great and it led to a new dance song.

4. Teenage Cowboy till I die (November 2006) was lyrically written by Lil' Rock and then added to here and there by myself.  Lil' Rock loved the title and wanted to write a song including how much he loved his new Holden ute.

5. Win or Lose it all (July 2006) simply descibes Rock's attitude towards life.  Don't procrastinate just decide and take action.  Doing nothing about your situation leaves you right where you are and sometimes a new decision creates too much change with problems but there is always an answer if you keep looking.  Life is about growing not dying and change is necessary to grow.

6. Call me up (September 2006) was last remnants of the old rockabilly style tunes but at a slower pace.  One of those quick 5 minute songs.

7. One Eyed Horse (October 2006) once again inspired by Kieran over a phone conversation remarking what a great title.  We'll have to right a song so I did.  Reminds me alot of the old spaghetti western pictures with Bud Spencer and Terence Elliott.  Does anyone have some copies of these?

8. Sad & Lonely Feelings (August 2006) turned out nothing like the original.  I wrote the song with lyrics and music but Kieran came along for a rehearsal and made suggestions in the music which changed the feel and I felt that he totally improved the song so Kieran's version was better and I stuck with it.

9. 1924 (October 2006) was the hardest song I ever wrote because it relates directly to the loss of my mum on July 25 that year.  I had a lot to thank my mother for and luckily I had the chance to say this to her before she left us.  I even got to tell her how much I loved her and how much she meant to me.  Not everyone can be that lucky with their loved ones as I was.  For this song I wanted something smooth and melodic but with heaps of feel.  I'ts a hard one to do without getting a little misty.  Even writing this can bring back difficult memories but it's best to celebrate their life than dwell over their passing on. (You really don't know how much you take your mum for granted until she's gone so never leave it too late to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you on a regular basis).

10. You're a Cowboy (October 2006) has a favourite little riff that finally was used in a song.  It's another quick 5 minute one.

11. Suzy Darlin (98) has been revived from the old rockabilly set because it was decided that it would suit the new country rock songs. Written back at Summerland Pt on a lazy sunday afternoon.

12. Hey Boss Man (98) has also been revived as above and is simply a great song to tell your boss exactly what to do with it.  That's just how I felt back then.
